Light -sport planes occupy a niche between ultralights and general aviation aircraft. In terms of safety and serviceability, light-sport aircraft are similar in size and function to general aviation classics such as the Piper Cub and its descendants.

Exosphere recently named innovative aircraft designer, Jim Bede, as Director of Aeronautical Design. Since 1961, Bede has focused on making flying affordable for everyone, developing his own line of aircrafts. The most famous of these, the BD-5 micro plane was featured in a James Bond movie.

To supply the growing demand for the new light sport aircraft category, Bede and Exosphere will provide the BD-22 and the BD-22S, incorporating advanced technologies and state-of-the-art designs intended to redefine the light sport aircraft.
